Multi-award-winning architectural designer Keith Cameron-Brown spent a year in Europe and came home inspired to create his own bespoke home, drawing on the observations of his travels and also inspired by an intriguing Fremantle site in an enclave between High and Ellen Streets, overlooking historic Samson House and offering long views over the harbour to Rottnest.

Limestone, travertine and Carrara marble, silky oak, jarrah, oregon, steel, iron, glass and antique French architectural pieces interact in a superbly designed series of indoor and outdoor spaces to create a wonderfully liveable family home.

A jarrah and stone stair with handcrafted steel balustrading curves up to an arch opening into a long, cathedral-like space with 120-year-old oregon ceiling trusses and arched leadlight windows.
An impressive 'random rubble' stone fireplace presides over one end of this gracious space and, at the other, a round kitchen with curved marble benchtops, silky-oak cupboards and steel arched windows offers you long views over the treetops to the port and the ocean beyond.

Glass and steel doors open to the upstairs terrace, with a travertine marble floor and a pitched glass roof - a well-protected spot enjoying the south-westerly breezes and the long vista.
Also opening to the terrace is the master bedroom suite, with a freestanding bath, built-in antique French pieces and an artfully simple curved wall concealing the walk-in-wardrobe.
Imagine waking up here in this secluded spot, surrounded by beauty, peace and lofty views.
After watching all the life of the port over breakfast, take the curved stairs up another level to your office, where the views are even more inspiring.

While remarkably beautiful, this is also an immensely practical family home, with a separate suite of living spaces on the ground floor, ideal for older children and their friends.
There is a living area and three bedrooms downstairs, two of which overlook the marble-tiled ground floor terrace, with a wonderfully inviting pool decorated with Turkish tiles and a wall sculpture - one of a number of commissioned sculptural pieces incorporated in various parts of the home.
The downstairs bathroom is a particularly lovely space, with the travertine and Carrara marble and silky oak pieces found throughout.
The gardens are lush and pretty, with a secluded and shady garden spot near the pool, where a limestone stair curves up to link the lower and upper terraces.

This is a handmade home with a timeless feeling. Even the jarrah floorboards were milled to order so they are not all the same width - it's that kind of detailed simplicity that gives warmth and character while also creating an ambience of elegance and ease.
