Passivhaus (or Passive House) is a German scientific approach to home design that uses a combination of high-performance glazing, insulation and an airtight building envelope to regulate a home's internal temperature without relying on artificial heating or cooling. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling. Floors through the living areas are bleached pine, with carpets to all bedrooms and tiles to bathrooms and wet areas. The stairs, handrails and breakfast bar are Victorian ash with a lime wash.

The kitchen has a linear layout with stainless steel bench tops, Miele appliances, and a scullery/laundry. An island bench with brushed granite top features a Bora induction hob with central downdraft extractor lit by a pair of nautical pendant lights.

A 10.8kW Solar PV system was installed in 2017 comprising 42 x Canadian Solar 270W solar panels on the east and west-facing roof spaces and a Fronius WiFi inverter connected to the grid, and allowing smartphone monitoring of solar power output. The home is connected to the NBN.
