Last Listing description (May 2023)

Architect designed Mid-Century homes are rare in Blackheath, and ones that have been restored and modernised in such a sympathetic fashion are even rarer. Lillipilly also sits lightly on the landscape as the architect was a tremendous fan of light weight timber building construction.
Make your way down the long driveway and swing around the turning circle to find a home designed in the early 1950's by the young Mid-Century Architect H. P. Oser.
The house has three main roof planes, all with a slightly pitched skillion, the highest roof covers the main living/dining area, the middle roof covers the bedrooms and the final skillion was saved for the carport. The living/dining room also has a large bank of floor to ceiling windows that over look the spacious north facing terrace, in this room there is also a large slow combustion fire.

The property when purchased was in a very poor state of repair, the carpets were rotting and the original floors were perilous to the point of being unsafe. The gardens had disappeared under a
monoculture of Radiata Pines which made the house very dark and damp.
Unfazed, they jumped in and re-floored, re-configured and renovated to arrive at the stunning conclusion we see today.
The gardens are spectacular and would not be out of place in Mount Wilson, an area famous for its rambling and very beautiful gardens. Designed and curated by Steve Vella whose own rural garden was recently featured on an episode House and Garden.
Trucks filled with mature specimen trees from all over the country were brought in along with a spectacular array of annuals and perennials resulting in an eye popping garden that appears to have been in place for decades rather than a few short years.
Nestled in the gardens are two studios, one airconditioned and double glazed which is used by the vendors as a lock and leave workspace and the other is an incredibly charming but well constructed structure of rusty corrugated iron and recycled windows.
Other notable improvements are the connection to the town sewer thus moving away from septic, a new water supply and town gas as well as a new electricity supply.
The main house also has a ducted reverse cycle air conditioning system.
There is nothing to do here, just move in and enjoy the gardens, the house and the unique location.
