My favourite things about living in this house.
There isn't much to dislike about this house. The structure itself is strong - built back in the day when hardwood was used on the studs and noggins for the internal walls! It feels substantial and protective. I love the terracotta tiled roof with its gorgeous lichen finish. I enjoy the open plan layout too.

We spent many hours creating the easy care garden at the front of the house. In summer the main internal tree acts like a big green umbrella and together with the camellia creates a beautiful internal space in which to relax on particularly hot days.
I love the decks, both back and front. The front deck is perfect for breakfast on weekends. Over the years we have created several little courtyards to enjoy at different times of day. The pebbled one adjoining the gym is near a fig tree and we often watch its fruits disappear before our eyes as we get heaps of parrots in this part of Watson. The fig tree fills out beautifully in summer and grows ample fruit as does the apple tree, raspberries and the weeping mulberry near the art studio. The rose bushes never fail to please nor does the blossom on the fruit and nut trees that line the back fence.
I love the fact that no matter where I am in the house there is a beautiful view. Light floods in during all seasons of the year. In spite of this open airy feeling there is no loss of privacy.
We have been blessed with lovely neighbours. Our street is very quiet and people are respectful of each other. We have developed some lovely friendships and will miss that aspect of living here very much.
We live a short walk away from Mount Majura and a wonderful reserve where there is an abundance of all the good things Australia has to offer: native bushland, kangaroos, climbs that provide views of Canberra that can take your breath away: especially in winter when the sky is sunny and blue and everything is covered in a coat of frost.
We are close to Watson Shops, Cafes, a General Practice and Dickson for major shopping requirements. We are close to the new rail link but far enough away not to be impacted by it. We are a short walk away from Majura school but are never disturbed by any noise. We are a very short drive away from the Centre of Canberra and live 11 minutes drive from the airport. It's all good news for this little house!
Whoever gets this little haven is very lucky. Wish it was me!
