La Gemme Estate
Set within approximately 108 acres in a tightly held blue-ribbon enclave of the Southern Highlands, La Gemme Estate is a brand-new luxury country estate of unmistakable European provenance - created to stand alongside the great private properties of France and Italy.
Purchased in 2021, the estate was entirely re-imagined to create a true Southern Highlands legacy property. Over four years, Kyara and Clayton co-designed every element of La Gemme, travelling extensively through Europe to gather inspiration and source rare architectural elements, antiques and materials that now form the soul of the estate.
The result is not a renovation, but a bespoke, designer-led residence - timeless, layered, and effortlessly European.
Estate Overview
La Gemme Estate accommodates up to 24 guests across the grand main residence and a separate guest house. The estate overlooks a tranquil koi-filled lake framed by mature landscaping and curated gardens. Accessed via two private gated entrances from Range Road, Mittagong, or Kimberley Drive, Bowral, the estate offers exceptional privacy while remaining just 90 minutes from Sydney CBD.
The Main Residence
The main residence features four generous ensuite bedrooms, additional attic accommodation, formal lounge and dining rooms, a study and library, internal lift (3 levels), multiple laundries and extensive garaging.
Finishes include a bespoke marble kitchen with dual island benches, French Lacanche stove, reclaimed French oak flooring sourced from a historic Normandy church, Joseph Giles hardware, curated European chandeliers, a climate-controlled wine fridge, underfloor heating, ducted air conditioning, Lutron automation and an integrated Bose sound system.
Recreation & Wellness
Resort-level amenities include a 14-metre heated swimming pool and spa, limestone-paved courtyard terraces, outdoor fireplace, manicured lawns and a dedicated Wellness Centre featuring a fully equipped gym and sauna.
The Guest House
A separate guest house provides two bedrooms with bathrooms, a full kitchen, lounge with fireplace, and private garage - ideal for extended family, guests, or staff accommodation.
Gardens & Lake
Designed by Richard Haigh, the gardens balance formal European structure with established Australian natives. A grand plane-tree-lined driveway sets the tone on arrival, while the koi-filled lake forms a tranquil focal point for the estate. Garden lighting creates a deeply atmospheric setting after dusk.
Future Potential
DA approval is in place for a luxury equestrian complex including stables and a covered arena, designed to mirror the architectural language of the main estate.
Summary
La Gemme Estate stands as one of the Southern Highlands' most significant residential offerings - a brand-new luxury estate with European lineage, created by a globally respected stylist and underpinned by financial and investment expertise.
