Our Vision & History
Our vision for Leeuwin Village is to create a Residential Development that will provide residents with a lifestyle rich in nature and community.
The Leeuwin Village site was previously a working farm used for livestock, and later as a timber plantation, which resulted in non-native Bluegums being broadly planted across much of the site specifically for harvest and timber production.
While the Bluegums are required to be progressively removed as the former use as a plantation ceases, the residential estate has been designed to retain and protect as many pre-existing native trees as possible. An extensive area of native forest is located to the west of the first stage of development and has been retained and will be ceded as Reserve for Conservation, ensuring that it will be protected indefinitely.
Large clusters of native Marri trees have been identified within the Bluegum plantation and the Village has been designed to include these trees within areas of public open space to minimise developmental impact. Many of the trees have had surgery works completed to remove deadwood, ensuring that they remain safe and continue to thrive long into the future.
New native trees, including Willow Myrtle, Blackbutt, and Coral Gums, and new tubestock and shrubs have been and will continue to be planted within the streetscape and drainage areas. Considerable areas along the existing Creek line will be incorporated and preserved.
Residents will be self-sufficient in potable water and Design Guidelines encourage building design that utilises the best viable practice to promote an eco-friendly development.
