Queens park is an area that does not get enough publicity. As affordable land and houses closer to Perth city become rarer, this suburb will really start to shine in the next few years. In the past year I've seen roads resurfaced, roundabouts cleaned up, footpaths placed and new housing developments pop up. It's good to see older derelict homes getting knocked down.
Times are changing. A younger, diverse and more professional demographic are purchasing homes in the area and quickly gentrifying the bad reputation it once had as a 'shady' suburb. 10km from the city with direct access to major arteries and a train line plus a shopping centre that's getting a 235 million dollar upgrade means this is a place to keep an eye on.
Queens Park is mainly houses and parks so it means you'll have to make a trip to Victoria park or Cannington for eating out. There are no clubs or pubs which is bonus or negative depending on who you are. I think the area could use a cafe strip near the train station and there's potential for it too, but for now Victoria Park is closest place for a coffee.
