The current projects in the nearby vicinity are:
Onslow Salt Mine a growing solar salt evaporation and distribution project, covering a large land area with a jetty and facitlities to ship out finished product. It is anticipated that there will be up to 2.5m tonnes of salt produced a year.
The Gorgon Project will develop the Greater Gorgon Area gas fields, located about 130 kilometres off the north-west coast of Western Australia, at Barrow Island, north of Onslow.
It includes the construction of a 15 million tonne per annum (MTPA) Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island and a domestic gas plant with the capacity to provide 300 terajoules per day to supply gas to Western Australia.
ONSLOW will become a major LNG precinct after Ashburton Shire counsellors rezoned land to site two gas projects.
The Shire of Ashburton rezoned the land, 12 km south-west of Onslow, to ``industrial'' from ``rural'' to allow the construction of two of WA's biggest LNG plants that will generate millions of tonnes of gas a year.
Proposed onshore projects include Macedon Gas and Pilbara LNG and Wheatstone LNG
Offshore from Onslow are numerous oil and gas fields, drilling projects and operating wells.
