ONLY FOR LIMITED TIME AVAILABLE!
Designed by Leon Spiccia, the name that has been prominent in helping to shape the architectural landscape in Australia, South East Asia and Europe, this iconic residence of eternal class and style received the Building Excellence Award of Master Builder's Association straight after its completion. The builder of this architectural masterpiece has put his signature in the most iconic residences of City Beach which remain untouched by the time and quite interestingly they offer a superior quality of living even compared to the contemporary homes.
The building specifications of this massive house are similar to those of a fortress, after its builder overcapitalised in the use of concrete and iron. Every revolutionary option available in that time has been applied to this house, including also a bunker in the basement (later transformed into a cellar), designed to protect people and valued materials in the event of an attack, behind its lead door!
The Facts
- The biggest residential Green Title in this area 1,000sqm,
- Eternal 180-degree views from Fremantle to Scarborough
- Sitting 38 metres above the ocean and 5 houses away from West Coast Highway and the beach track
- More than 820sqm of living space spread throughout three levels!
- Land suitable for immediate subdivision into two 500sqm blocks (approx. and STCA).
The Location
This is the most private enclave of City Beach with only 200 Green Title homes set on a slope with views of the ocean. Access to this most exclusive and safe neighbourhood is possible by just two access points, a feature not found anywhere else in City Beach. It's no coincidence that some of the biggest and most luxurious residences of the '80s and '90s were built in this area by their well-known owners. In contrast, the rest of City Beach was mainly populated by the typical and repeating single-storey 3x1 or 4x2 brick homes. The history of this house enhances the importance and rarity of this prized location.
The History
A house celebrated and visited by all the well-known personalities in business, politics, arts and sciences in the mid-1980s, thanks to its famed original owner whose global achievements made Australia proud.
The original landholding included an ensemble of land parcels totalling a quarter-of-an-acre that accommodated a residence, a tennis court, lush gardens, and a large garage for the vehicles of the family. This house was built with extraordinary standards and still includes features that can only be found in today's grand mansion homes including:
- A lift and a "dumbwaiter" service lift to move the food, drinks or shopping from the ground floor to the main living areas;
- The extravagant main staircase at the main entrance and a rear service staircase for the house staff or everyday use;
- All doors, wardrobes, stair balustrades, bars and more are made of everlasting Jarrah timber.
Today
The glory and elegance of the past have been further enhanced by the current owners of this exquisite residence. Upgrades have been made with finesse and cosmopolitan flair. A combination of the best craftsmen and artisans spent months working on a project that would upgrade the home's original form.
- All jarrah timber surfaces were processed and lacquered to a "royal beige" colour while also gaining durability;
- The main entrance and lobby walls were treated with Stucco Veneziano. This Italian lime plaster requires patience and craftsmanship when applied in multiple layers and is compacted into a high gloss surface;
- The "levitating staircase" acts as the centrepiece of this residence and was invested with custom-made, curved and clear polycarbonate sheets and fixed with golden bolts. This transformation adds a flair of freedom to the already impressive width and volume of this architectural wonder which is "floating" with no support from pillars;
- The kitchen was replaced with a custom-made and technically challenging composition of curved cabinets. This includes curved doors and a similarly curved Corian high-tech solid benchtop.
After many months of hard work, the house has been transformed into its present high-class design but there is one feature that never changed. The desk of the original owner, made of jarrah and shaped to a curvaceous form, has remained the same through the years. This spacious home office and this very desk have hosted business agreements of international significance that have made history.
Today, the good fortune and elegance that come with this one-of-a-kind residence await the lucky new owner. This is your chance to snap up the biggest landholding in the area along with the best views and potential for further future value growth.
