KENNA'S SANDSTONE QUARRY
The volcanic tuff quarry is located off the Sisters- Noorat Road at The Sisters. It is situated on privately owned grazing land approximately 13 Kilometers North West of Terang. Located on approx 100 acres, local contractors regard it as the best in the district and the demand for the material continues to be strong. Total volume of material to be extracted is 1750000 cubic meters consisting of 25000 cubic meters of topsoil and 100000 of overburden and 1625000 of volcanic tuff. The title area is 41.22ha and the title depth limitation is nil. Existing disturbed area including topsoil stockpile is nil, area to be opened in this application is 13.06ha and the approximate maximum area to be open at given time is 4.0ha. A 1.2 meter high stock proof fence exists along the perimeter of the application area restricting public access to the site. Stage 1 is situated in the north west corner of the site. Stage 2 involves the removal of material form the south western corner of the area to be extracted. Stage 3 involves the removal of material from the eastern corner of the area to be extracted. Stage 4 involves the removal of material form the north eastern corner of the area to be extracted, forming the last of the terminal batters in the process.
