Rotations focused around two years of 'break crops' followed by two years of cereals.
Crops are sown with 13-19 units of P per hectare depending on the paddock, crop type, sowing date and previous yield. Cereals and Canola are top dressed with 75-130 units of N per hectare. All cropping paddocks have been limed with 4-5 t/ha over the past decade. Gypsum is spread on an 'as need basis' but is not a regular input.
(B) Sheep:
(i) Self replacing Merino flock based on Centre Plus genetics, February shearing, September lambing
(ii) Prime lamb flock of Xbred ewes (Merino x Highlander) mated to Poll Dorset rams, February shearing, July lambing
* Pastures:
Newer improved pastures comprise of either Holdfast GT phalaris or Barabria perennial ryegrass with Riverna & Trikkala sub clovers. Older improved pastures comprise of Australian phalaris with a Trikkala sub clover base. Lucerne pastures have also been sown.
148 acres (60ha) of new perennial pasture has been sown this year year with a further 86 acres (35ha) of Lucerne planned for sowing this coming Spring.
Historically pastures have received 11-12 units of P per hectare per annum. In 2016 all pasture paddocks received a lime application of 3 t/ha.
* Fencing / Subdivision:
Creighton is well subdivided into 30+ paddocks with a laneway system - conventional fencing in generally good condition with a renewal program being undertaken
Coopers is fenced into four paddocks but is mainly utilised for grain production with opportunity grazing
* Water:
Creighton - main large catchment dam with a pressure pump feeding troughs in every paddock (bar one) via a 1.5 inch main line, secondary catchment dam with pumpshed, numerous catchment paddock dams, backup bore equipped with a submersible pump that can tap into the main stockwater line if need be
Coopers - catchment paddock dams, generator powered pump on bore that can feed two of the dams
