Hi! I have a somewhat unusual situation that I'm looking for the ideal housemate/tenant for. My house has two parts, one which I have been renting as short stay accommodation but would like to move that to a longer term tenant/housemate situation. This half of house is completely self contained with own (small) kitchen, 2 bedrooms, lounge, bathroom, own entrance, plus patio and backyard.
I am a single parent of a 4yo girl, and we travel regularly to Melbourne for my work, overall about 1/3 of our time is spent in Melbourne currently. There is some noise able to be heard between the two halves of the house but they are entirely self contained, but it is a little bit more like a housemate situation in terms of levels of noise as the internal walls are not super thick, so I'm very upfront about this! But because we are away regularly (and nearly all school holidays) then I think it's a good balance.
I would like to have the other half of the house ideally occupied by a single parent with one child of kinder or primary school age. Primary school is a short 5 minute walk away, Kinder is 5 minute drive away in Erica and is a mixed 3/4yo group on Mon Tue & Thu with available spaces (currently around 12 kids and similar for 2026). The kitchen is fairly small, so do not think it would suit more than 1 adult and 1 child longer term. Happy to set up something well in advance. I would prefer to lease furnished (can swap out queen bed in 2nd bedroom for child's bed if preferred), and will consider a shorter lease for a single or couple without child who are happy with a lease only until end of April, because ideally I'm looking for more a housemate (but with privacy & space!) and it's been hard to find the right fit so far.
