Last Listing description (January 2016)

Built as a family home in 1880 and renovated to service the needs of todayA a a s modern family is Juverna A a ' a 14 acre absolute river frontage property located at Eildon, just 2 hours from the centre of Melbourne. A a A'JuvernaA a A a ' is Latin for A a E girls from IrelandA a a . This fully renovated homestead was built by an Italian builder for a man known as Mr. Ryan, whose wife was the aunt of Ned Kelly. Ned stabled his horses on this property which was known for its fine sheep farming.
Times change, and the current owners have retained much of the original splendour of this solid double brick home which has been rewired and replumbed. The appliances are modern and high quality.
This ageless home has been transformed into an open plan family retreat with views looking out onto the surrounding hills beyond the private gardens. The renovations have been undertaken to the highest standard and the fixtures and fittings are all high end, sourced from all over Australia to create an ambience fitting a homestead such as this. The slate in front of the Clean Air wood fire was quarried from Urapunga Station in Northern Territory; the architraves and skirtings are all original; the cornices were moulded from originals following all the ceilings being replaced, the fireplaces and mantles in the bedrooms are all original. The floating floorboards are original hardwood - Baltic pine, known for its durability and rustic look; the flooring each room in the house is independent from the others; the stumps are all brick piers, the veranda is original solid concrete, the roofline has been extended to cover the width of the veranda, and the roof was replaced with colorbond in 2009.

The ensuite was created to complement the master bathroom and the master bathroom has been fully renovated, the rich colour scheme was inspired by the colours of central Australia. All the windows throughout the home are double sash hung and made of treated hardwood. The Asko dishwasher and range hood; Falcon double oven and induction cook top, granite bench top and splashback; kitchen cupboards crafted by hand from Tasmanian Oak and Jarrah, make it a joy to prepare meals for the family or guests.
The independent games room was the original home and was moved from the banks of the river to where it sits now, opposite the back entrance to the home under the breezeway. The breezeway creates easy access to the outdoor entertaining area which sits alongside a healthy variety of fruit trees, spring bulbs and the huge magnolia that is larger than the famous magnolia in the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne.
So what of the 14 acres??? Currently horses are agisted on the paddocks behind the house, that front the Goulburn River, but come hay season, and the combination rye grass, crocks foot and clover grasses are baled into approx. 1000 bales and sold to a local supplier. A short wander down to the fresh flowing waters of the majestic Goulburn River where the fish are almost always biting.
And what about the shearing shed? It has been re-roofed and supported by the original 6A a slab posts and rafters.
Yes, everything old is new again, except for the concept of the home. It was originally built as a traditional family home, and inspection will confirm that although the home has been renovated, it was renovated with a modern family in mind. Your family? Quite possibly.
