Armadale Residence is the result of an elongated renovation of an existing heritage home. Originally designed and built in the 1930s, the Tudor style home returned to a clean structural base to expose the potential for the redesign. Despite its inherited formality, the newly conceived residence was founded on connection. As a reflection of the contemporary lived condition, the home is given the opportunity to breathe by creating visual access and openness both internally and out towards the surrounding landscape. With interior design by Lisa Buxton Interiors, the home is given a revitalised personality. Extending from the richness of the original home, each space comes together as a celebration of character and detail. With a muted and mostly white-walled base, striking elements are introduced and easily interchangeable.

The timber flooring running underneath ensures the home feels united through a sense of consistency whilst also adding a welcomed warmth. By demolishing the original laundry and kitchen spaces, the area is reconfigured from a holistic point of view. A reorientation of the kitchen to be a social and entertaining space was key and connecting it to the open living and dining areas helped to create a contemporary feel to the rear of the home.
