P.S.
They say an old house can have character and charm, I never knew what that meant.
I sometimes mention to a Wynyard resident, that I live in the old B&B, on the road to the Cape. "Yes, I know Lyndhurst" they say. This house stands proud, and is a part of the communities consciousness.
As I busied myself, repairing and maintaining the old girl, I began to realise, I had become a part of the unwritten history of the place. I was now in tune, and had entered into a kind of dialogue with her.
I am the latest to stand, watching the world, through the beautiful imperfections, of century old glass. The distinctive ding of the brass doorbell. Walking slowly down the hall towards the stained glass entrance, fresh coloured light glinting through old windows.
There are times, when I pass across the threshold, or move from room to room, she whispers to me.
I have lived in many houses, some I called my home. But I must move on.
I feel proud to have been the latest custodian of Lyndhurst. I will miss the warmth and safety that this home offers.
