It was the original Bridge Inn until 1836. By the early 1840's a shop frontage had been added with a door on either end of the verandah leading to separate shops. It has been a bakery, butchers, tailors and doctor's surgery. Stores were kept in the cellar with access through the trapdoor in the restaurant. It remained a residence through most of the last century until bought in 1980. It was restored and opened as tearooms in 1982 and in 2004, extra seating was added and in 2007, evening meals were introduced.
