Selling Tarcoola House- our story...
It's not every day that the opportunity to purchase one's dream home comes along! For us, it always seemed out of reach. Living on a single teacher's income and raising children as we travelled the world, we didn't quite know how we'd ever fulfil the dream of owning the sort of place we'd always imagined. But then, through an amazing mix of fate and generosity, we had the chance to purchase Tarcoola House. It wasn't a matter of what we knew, but rather who we knew, and the generosity of some wonderful people that gave us the chance to live a lifestyle we'd only ever dreamed of, and it was amazing! Sadly, sometimes life throws us challenges we aren't expecting, and for us, this meant that we had to make the hard decision to move away from King Island. It's now time to pass on Tarcoola House to allow someone else the chance to live this dream! It's a cherished place, and really, we were just lucky to have savoured a few years as custodians of breathtaking lands that feel almost sacred. Tarcoola House really is incredible. It was built on a dream, and it holds the energy of a place built with vision and passion. True ocean front and views from every window, the sense of indoors and outdoors blend together, so that you feel like you are truly embracing the environment, even on a day when you just feel like snuggling up inside with a good book! We spent many of our days walking the coastal tracks, learning how to surf, fishing from rocks, beaches and piers, learning to sail, sitting out on our decks watching the moods of the ocean, spotting whales and watching fishing boats, and enjoying the freshest crayfish and abalone when friends who were divers would head out in front of our house and share their hauls with us. We would wander our property in the evenings, watching fairy penguins coming in from the sea, marvelling at skies filled with birds with the migration of mutton birds arriving in from China, and revelling at starlit skies that really are incomparable to anywhere else in the world. The house itself is spectacular and was built for oceanside living in a way few houses are. King Island sits in what's known as the Roaring 40s, so it can be a little breezy at times! Tarcoola House was built to withstand hurricane conditions, so even in the strongest winds, there's a sense of calm inside as you sit by a window, warmed by a wood heater, and gaze out over the ever-changing ocean. There's just so much more to share about our wonderful home- practical details such as sitting on 15 acres, extensive water storage, a full off-grid power system, the option to purchase fully furnished- and there's so much to share about Kind Island life- world-class cheese, surf, golf and beaches, the freshest water, the best seafood, our favourite beaches, the sense of community. We always love talking King Island life, and while selling Tarcoola House makes our hearts ache, we'd love to share our stories with you. If this feels like it may be your dream now, then please contact us, and we can even arrange to travel down to King Island with you if you'd like to view Tarcoola House and experience King Island.
