Needing to make a living his widow Rebecca established a School and continued to live on the site in 1872 and catered for up to 30 students. "Mrs Messengers School" operated until 1898 just prior to the establishment of a Sevenhill Public (Government) School. The cottage reverted to and has continued to be a residence from that time. The property then transferred in 1913 and stayed in a local family for the next seventy years with the current owners being resident for the past 20. With only four families in occupancy in approx 155 years, the cottage is ready for others to add to its colourful fabric.

Built in the "Old Country" style on the Front boundary there is no wasted space on this 2000m2 allotment. As well as drive through access there is rear access via Anton Street.
