Way back in the 1890's, the original Harriet Street dairy farm homestead was subdivided and in 1906 the widower, Margaret Paterson built the delightful, two story residence at 28 Harriet Street for her family of 8 children. The home was built by a local builder who lived in Harriet Street for many decades and who is still fondly remembered by a few of the older residents of the street.
The house has since had numerous alterations with the bathroom and kitchen being moved from outside to inside and at some point after 1946, the original front decks were lost. It is rumoured that this was during the period when The Go Betweens resided in the home in the 1970's.
