It was named after the family of James Sinnamon (1824-1869) and Margaret (nee Mathers) (1821 1904) who were pioneer European settlers in the area. The original homestead still stands on Seventeen Miles Rocks Road in all its glory.

Sinnamon Park touches the Brisbane River at one end where riverfront living in the prestigious Windermere estate features predominantly large beautiful contemporary homes, and borders the Centenary Highway and the neighbouring suburb of Seventeen Mile Rocks.
