1.a What influenced me to build the house in the style that it is.
A:
??? The house was designed for functional outdoor living.
??? I wanted to come home after a hectic day, open the sliders & relax.
??? I wanted a large open-plan style living area and to get that feeling of a modern holiday house where areas in the house all flow; thus the open-plan for the kitchen/lounge area which is fantastic.
??? Most time is spent on the deck for breakfasts, weekend brunches and BBQ???s are always happening; cooking & eating outside happens more than inside.
??? The design is simple but functional and was all geared around the deck.
1.b What plans did I have for the home, which you may not have completed?
A:
??? I had originally planned on installing an outdoor tv; however with the sliders opened you can watch the main tv.
1.c What advantages are there living in your home.
A:
??? Its very cool. Rarely requiring the air-conditioners: The breeze is sensational being the end-block. Between the shade provided by the palm trees & the breeze the air-conditioners are rarely required even in the heat of summer.
??? Its very quiet.
??? The open plan open lounge/deck & kitchen means that you are never far away the core of entertaining and are never locked away in another room when preparing food etc. The deck/lounge/kitchen all open up and work beautifully together.
??? The connectivity ie: phone/wireless & gigabit wired network are connected throughout the house with multiple ports in every room. The patch panel in the garage means that any port can be connected to any service.
??? The house is very low maintenance; rocks surround most of the house, with only a very small amount of grass to manage. An annual mulch & fertilise will keep the yard & palms looking at their best.
??? Most power-points are waste high (apart from a few), this was a great choice as it reduced the amount of power cables lying on the floor.
2. When friends & family visit, what do they point out as the benefits of the home.
A:
??? Everyone loves the deck. Even when sitting inside, opening the sliders opens the house and gives that relaxed breezy feel. With the sheer curtains extended you can see thru them enough to still see outside whilst allowing for privacy and light to enter the house.
??? Everyone comments on the kitchen, the 950mm high & large bench-top are the main focus, the cooker & 2-draw dishwasher (are both awesome), the kitchen is easy to work in and functional. The kitchen was custom produced by Davenport Kitchens after the builder said it couldn???t be done with a 900mm wide cooker.
??? Everyone likes the guest bathroom, the open shower is great and the tub is deep so you can really relax in it.
??? Everyone likes the extra large ensuite especially the extra wide double shower and the double basins.
??? All rooms are a decent size.
??? Everyone likes the Elfa Storage throughout (from Howards Storage World).
??? When opening up the master & spare bedroom windows, you look at a garden vista.
??? People notice the large gates & easy access for the boat to the paved area where it sits.
??? Extra power points; FCom wired the house with extra heavy duty wiring and additional power points (eg: there are 5 x dual outlets for the deck), power points can even be found inside the cupboards and linen press.
3. What are the 5 best things about living in your home.
A:
1. The deck ??? outdoor living ??? relaxed ambience and easterly desk aspect means that there???s no baking afternoon sun.
2. It???s a very cool house; breeze transits the house beautifully.
3. The kitchen ??? easy to use, lots of space.
4. Low effort ??? because of the simple design, tiled, its easy & quick to clean.
5. Once you close the front door after arriving home, the world can pass you by.

The house has turnout out the way it was intended. There???s not a lot I???d do differently. I???d probably consider the following:
