Lowood-Fernvale Sewer Upgrade marks a major milestone
Queensland Urban Utilities has finished constructing the new sewer pipe which will connect the Ferny Gully Sewerage Pump Station to the new Lowood Sewage Treatment Plant.
The works mark a major milestone in the $45 million project to upgrade the regions sewerage system.
Queensland Urban Utilities spokesperson, Michelle Cull, said nearly 7km of new pipeline had been laid alongside Forest Hill Fernvale Rd.
Construction is now underway on the new treatment plants state-of-the-art membrane tank, which will purify the wastewater to the highest standards to protect the environment.
Ms Cull said the $45 million Lowood-Fernvale sewer upgrade would double the capacity of the existing network, to cater for growth and development in Somerset.
