Last Listing description (October 2021)

On instruction from the Liquidator of Keydane Pty Limited (In Liquidation) formerly t/a 'Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours' Colliers International Cairns presents for sale the business assets together with a ground lease of the private rainforest reserve the business operated from.

Keydane Pty Limited traded as Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours and Night Walks Jungle Adventures and operated an adventure tourism business at Cape Tribulation which commenced in 2003.

The business allowed visitors to explore the rainforest canopy from a unique perspective, with a guided zipline and tree platform tour. Guests enjoyed breathtaking views into the canopy, down to cascading streams and out to the Great Barrier Reef. The tour was controlled by experienced, professional guides and offered an adventure experience for all ages.

Additionally, multiple walking tours were hosted including day tours where visitors could trek through the jungle, discovering plants and animals, seeing strangler figs, ancient ferns and the lush canopy of the rainforest. The second tour option allowed visitors to explore the forest floor after dark by torchlight, an experience vastly different to the day. The guided Daintree Rainforest night walks were designed to reveal a unique perspective of the ancient forests which still remain relatively untouched.

Prior to closing, the business was profitable and attracted nearly twenty thousand visitors annually.
The business operated on a ground lease within a 7.47Ha* private freehold reserve adjoining the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park rainforests. The business ceased operation in early 2020 as a result of a tragic Zip line accident that occurred on 22 October 2019 which resulted in one fatality and injuries to other persons. Following the accident, the Zip line was decommissioned as part of the WHS investigation. The Liquidator was appointed on 30 March 2020.

The business owns the zipline and interpretive infrastructure and has use of the constructed two-level reception/office and storage building on the property.

Features:
- Previous success as an attraction and proven financial track record
- Established equipment and structures in place for recommencement of zip-lining business
- Known cost to re-establish the operation through internationally recognised consultants
- High tourist attraction area just over 1km* from Cape Tribulation Road & surrounded by World Heritage Listed rainforest clad hills
- Previous numbers show over 2 million* visitors to the region annually

Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours and Jungle Adventures Night Walks are located in Cape Tribulation, approximately 3 hours drive north of Cairns and 2 hours north of Port Douglas. The road from Cairns is sealed all the way and is suitable for all types of vehicles. The scenic trip from Cairns includes spectacular coastal scenery along our very own "Great Ocean Road" and passes Port Douglas and Mossman before crossing the Daintree River towards Cape Tribulation. The 45-acre property borders the Cape Tribulation section of the Daintree National Park and contains spectacular rainforest, creeks and views of the ocean, Great Barrier Reef and beyond.

The Liquidator is seeking expressions of interest from qualified parties to purchase the business assets and enter into a long-term ground lease arrangement for the re-opening of the business and attraction.

Stakeholders including the Liquidator, landowner, former staff, traditional owners and community are onboard to see the business back in operation.
