As a young person growing up it was always impressed on me the importance of getting into the property market as soon as possible. A couple of years ago my parents identified a 2 bedroom unit with a small yard in Alexandra Hills residential complex, as a possible option. With the advice from them and a local mortgage broker, I found I had sufficient deposit with the government 1st home owners grant, and earning capacity to make the purchase. I was renting a house with two others at the time and as it turned out, I was no worse off financially, as I now share the unit with my partner. We are very happy living there and find that there is more than enough living and storage areas to happily accommodate our needs. Having a relatively small mortgage, compared to a few of my friends, means there is no financial stress and I have been able to easily pay down my mortgage balance quite considerably since moving in just over a year ago.
I would recommend this as a great, low cost way to get into the property market and get ahead financially.
