The bat is likely to be over 50 years old and has terrified bowlers and wicket keepers alike for almost 39 seasons either side of the second World War. The bat belonged to an unassuming chap called Len Sorensen.
Len was a legendary Buderim cricketer from the period either side of the Second World War. During his 39 seasons of competitive cricket as a wicketkeeper/batsman, he made over 100 centuries and played in the same era as Don Bradmans 'invincibles'.
The Sorensen family name is well known and honoured through the Buderim Historical society as one of the first families 'on top of the hill'. Back then, this was farming country and the locals remember being able to walk from Buderim to Mooloolaba and not pass a single car.
The rolling green hills with distinctive red clay were used for agriculture and most blocks were measured in acres. Over time, the Sorensen family provided more space for other families to join them but dividing their own family land into small parcels - big by todays standards.
Finally, after almost a century, one of the last pieces of land that the Sorensen family own is ready to be passed on to the next family wanting to call beautiful Buderim home.
