Last Listing description (August 2011)
THE VIEW
Never before has the name of a property been so appropriate. Simply titled 'The View' this awe-inspiring residence seems to suggest that it single handedly has the monopoly on Buderim's best view. And as soon as you set foot in the living room you'll find you have to agree.
Yet however confident the property may be in its perfection, it manages to avoid ostentation and embrace a casual, easy living air belied only by the superior design fittings and decor finishes that adorn each room from marble floors to soaring ceilings.
Turning off a little-known service road that literally runs along the rim of Buderim's northern escarpment, it greets guests with a broad timber and glass door that swivels aside to reveal an elegant entrance framed by greenhouse-style gardens that provide just the smallest snapshot of the level of polish found throughout the home.
Even from this vantage the spectacular vista is evident and temptation takes you up the polished timber stairs to a vast open-plan living space designed to maximise both the prime northern aspect and its breathtaking ocean-to-hinterland panoramic. The creamy marble tiles cascade into a sunken living area framed entirely by glass as though to emphasise its seamless connection with the full-length, covered verandah that curves out toward the sea.
With the horizon lying directly at eye level, the ocean outlook appears to be not so much a view as an extension of the property itself - an immense slice of Pacific blue parading from the soft peak of Mount Coolum, across sandy beaches, rolling surf and the contoured curve Mudjimba island, all the way to the towering cityscape of the coastline of Maroochydore and Mooloolaba. Still it does not stop there, the rolling hills and prominent peaks of the hinterland toward Pomona don at least a dozen shades of blue on one side while snapshots of the marina and Point Cartwright peek through the treetops on the other.
Too good to sacrifice for even a second, this awesome vista is available from almost every room in the house. The kitchen grants it centre stage amid a sophisticated display of gleaming two-pac cupboards, fine granite benches curling into an island breakfast bar and first-class Miele appliances.
Likewise the master suite secures some of the best seats in the house for the post-sunset lights display with a private balcony running parallel to the Maroochy river mouth. Some competition may be posed however by the ensuite bathroom that brings up the rear of the suite, an elegant, fully-tiled domain with state-of-the-art spa, dual vanity and walk-in shower bordered by a glassed-in garden that runs the length of one wall. Linked to the bedroom via a substantial dressing room, it is a cutting-edge relaxation realm.
In fact the only room that doesn't opt for viewside is the one that makes its own fun. A purpose-built entertainment epicentre, the home theatre exhibits a rear-projection cinema system with wall-size screen, a built-in granite bar complete with buffet fridge and liquor storage shelves, a gas-run fireplace and a 1000-bottle wine cellar finished with temperature controls and marble floors. With a powder room down the hall, a wealth of downlights with dimmers and black-out blinds for daytime, this area is a party host of epic proportions.
Not to be outdone by the upper storey, the home's lower level is equally impressive. Its entire northern edge appears to be bordered completely by windows and sliding glass doors as two of the three bedrooms and the office step out to a covered poolside patio backdropped by the beautiful ocean views. Set into the curve of a natural rock wall, the turquoise water of the swimming pool seems to meet the azure blue of the ocean over its northern lip and the tiled deck runs its entire length.
The office could almost be considered commercial in size with its substantial seaside outlook while two bedrooms boast walk-in wardrobes and one has a fully-tiled ensuite all of its own. Determined to serve the lower level in style, the main bathroom replicates the sophisticated decor of the master ensuite but this time with a built-in far infrared sauna as an added extra. The laundry is also located downstairs, leading directly out to a dedicated drying court and there is an internal entry to the double lock up garage with its additional storage stations.
As if the design itself was not enough, the whole home runs within a completely controlled environment via a C-Bus system projecting piped music or DVD audio to every room both inside and out plus reverse-cycle airconditioning, vacuum-aid and back-to-base video intercom security.
It's no wonder the residence won the Master Builder's award for the top category renovation of the year in 2005. From the second you step inside there is no doubt that this residence is destined to come first in its class.
