Back in the early 1900s Whian Whian was a thriving little village and being opposite the small country school I was always an integral part of whatever was taking place in the community at that time. Recent documentation has confirmed that the Post Office operated from my premises from 1932 until it closed in 1968. My current owner of some 23 years has since transformed me into what I am today. The wide and covered wrap-around verandahs are a wonderful addition and give me that sought-after Queenslander look.

The high cathedral ceilings with exposed timber rafters combined with the cottage-style bathroom, country-style timber kitchen and timber floors throughout add to my overall charm and character. Being over 100 years old I am an outstanding example of what it was like to live in a bygone era. I am some 3.808 acres in size and in the last couple of years the council have given my owner permission to allow a 2nd dwelling (subject to council approval) to be erected on me. About 5 years ago Landcare planted 330 rainforest trees to rejuvenate the creek which runs through the rear of the property.
