An exceptional opportunity exists to acquire this award-winning garden estate, created as a sanctuary within the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains. This offering close to four private acres over three titles is located adjacent to the National Park with its world-class bushwalking trails and the spectacular Wentworth Falls.
The estate encompasses gardens initiated fifty years ago by Australian entertainer Reg Livermore. He named the property Pirramimma, an Indigenous word for the moon and stars.
A new custodian bought Pirramimma in 2006, acquired adjoining properties and engaged landscape architect Craig Burton to enhance the visual and spatial structure of the expanded estate.
New trees were planted and canopies were opened to encourage solar access. Then followed the creation of significant vistas, specialist garden areas, water rills, an orchard, a gully of misted ferns, an amphitheatre, sculpture nooks, terraces, stone staircases and sandstone pathways.
There is a light-filled Guest Studio with soaring ceilings, feature-glass windows and outdoor Japanese bath. An award-winning Japanese-inspired Tea House overlooks the lake and jetty. The Wisteria Terrace and Elm Lawn are ideal for social gatherings while the Meditation Circle and Relic Garden encourage quiet contemplation.
Pirramimma's orchard and potager garden pay homage to a bygone era when the property supplied fresh fruit and vegetables to the surrounding area. Architecturally-designed sandstone terraces enable access to the planting areas, heirloom produce and Chikka-Mimma, the chicken coop.
Pirramimma Garden Estate was selected for the State Library of NSW's 2016 Grand Garden Design exhibition. The garden has received numerous awards and has featured in several books and many local and international magazines. The former residence, an architectural masterpiece by Peter Stutchbury, was destroyed by fire in 2019.
Pirramimma retains the slab of the former residence, the generous hardscape apron, the earth wall and spacious sub-floor structure with underground parking, basement and storage, accessed by remote doors. There is an internal lift well to the ground floor which could be reconstructed.
This exquisite garden estate makes a lasting impression on those who value peace, privacy, nature and birdsong
