For the owners, as building designers and lovers of heritage homes, it was important to maintain the historical significance of this area so designed a replica Californian Bungalow. They have achieved this by incorporating recycled building materials from around NSW such as leadlight windows, front door, and garden gates.

Their home's maximum floor space is utilised for living spaces rather than corridors. In the early morning, the easterly sun casts colourful shadows and patterns from the leadlight windows onto the walls. On a winter's evening, they gather in the lounge room in front of the natural gas fireplace. The breakout area off three bedrooms gives a sense of extra space whilst keeping the living areas free for other family moments and celebrations. These celebrations often spill out onto the north facing entertaining deck which is screened with glass louvres. The generous and well lit office space above the oversized double garage with its separate entrance and toilet, provides the perfect physical and psychological disconnect from the home, making the transition from home to work a dream. This office space can easily be converted to a separate flat or additional bedroom.

The landscape design and well established plants have been carefully planned and selected to maintain a sense of privacy and greenery from every view. The deciduous trees allow the home to be flooded with the winter's northernly sun, whilst blocking the harsh summer temperatures. With historical Queanbeyan Park at our front door, the owners have spent many hours there with family and friends by grabbing a takeaway coffee from the vans at the events held there throughout the year. Lenane Street is also only a block or two from all local cafes, restaurants, shops, NSW Government services, the Qbyn River, and its many walking tracks.
