Situated on 8.95 hectares just 3km from the town centre is this iconic sawmill. Modern equipment has been installed in recent times to provide efficient operation of all aspects of the timber products.
The emphasis now is on sawdust and shavings for the equine, poultry and egg industries. This is a result of the use of pulp logs and off-cuts from the production of timber obtained from the local pine plantations.
The Nundle Mill has the only supply of shavings and sawdust to the Hunter and North West outside of Sydney. Consequently the guarantee of supply plus the lower transport costs result in high demand. The proposed expansion of the chicken broiler industry at Manilla will increase the demand in coming years.
