Domestic electricity was becoming more common, Joseph Lyons was the
first Prime Minister to use air travel to get around and meet the
people, and the days of the great depression were well and truly
over.

Our Aussie sheep's back was on the world's economic centre stage;
life was all blue skies at Murrumbateman!

The Pateman family were a local district fine wool pioneering
family that enjoyed this flush of prosperity.

'Olleyville' was held by the Pateman family since the mid 1850's
and part of their splash of the clip cash was the building of this
superb homestead around c.1936.

Early pictures clearly show the home's adapted Californian Bungalow
lines. The original stepped front verandah facade and cubed Art
Deco form just can't be missed. Interestingly, the home appears to
have always had a tin roof.

Like many earlier homesteads, this gem has also enjoyed changes and
additions over the decades to meet progressive style influences and
the needs of expanding families. Whilst we don't have access to
ongoing records, a photo dating back to 1968 shows the larger home,
retaining just a hint of its bungalow architectural roots.

But, the most emancipating, yet sympathetic changes to the
homestead have all been recent.

Today's homestead is an emblematic expression of great country
living.

The homes estimated total area of 402m sweeps in 4 living areas,
including a massive formal lounge/dining room with its baronial
central open fireplace, a library room with a hidden stone
fireplace and ornate ceilings, the stunning open plan kitchen/meals
room and a formal dining room.

When talking about the kitchen I need to refer to (today's) and
(yesterday's) because there are two.

Today's kitchen is an aesthetic and technical work of art. The
rustic cabinetry was sourced from an original home in Manuka (ACT)
and reconfigured to cater to the pragmatic demands of today's
chef's, whilst being thematically anchored to the home's era.
Whilst there's a comprehensive list of appliances listed below, no
expense has been spared in creating this kitchen from its concept
level.

Yesterday's kitchen is a time capsule. From the AGA to the
cabinetry breathing vents this is one of the most expressive
heart-tugs that that I've ever seen during my 16 years of selling
rural property. Yes, there's even a matching butler's pantry.

All 3 bedrooms are of excellent size, with the master suite having
a fabulous new ensuite with a feature seamless shower. Bedroom 2
(which was the original master) has plenty of robe space, plus a
