Water
Water is secure to the orchard with two sources; including a 150ML Lower Murrumbidgee Deep Ground Water licence and 306ML Murrumbidgee Irrigation High Security Water Licence. The home and garden are connected to the local mains water supply.
Production
Budwood a relatively new orchard was developed from a greenfields site in 1991. There is 33.00 hectares of Citrus, including 28.55ha of Washington Navel, Summer Navel, Cara Cara Navel and Valencia oranges and 4.45 ha of Sumo Mandarins, producing approximately 1,370 tonnes per annum.
There is a further 19.63 hectares is being re-developed in 2016. With 13.11ha to be planted to easy peel mandarins and 6.52ha to be planted to new Naval varieties next Spring. Re-development will comprise 10,000 new trees, with all new irrigation.
Irrigation
The irrigation system is controlled by a Micromaster MM4500 with variable speed drives, water is distibuted through a two shift irrigation system. All plantings are drip irrigated at 1.6litres/hour on 55cm spacings.
Infrastructure
Budwood's infrastructure includes a large steel framed, cement floored machinery shed with water, power and light and a large east facing apron. In addition there is a steel framed colourbond shed incorporating a cement floored pumphouse; bunded lockable chemical storage shed and a bore shed with additional storage area.
Housing
Budwood boasts a modern 4 bedroom, brick home with open plan kitchen, dining, living space and a second living room and an office. The home is comfortable year rounnd with underfloor heating and evaporative airconditioning. A single car garage is adjacent to the home. Budwood is a relatively new orchard that was established 25 years ago in a long established citrus growing region of Australia. Australia has existing export agreements in place for citrus to China.
