This amazing red cedar house was originally built for the foreman of the Ilarwill quarry in 1960. It has been perfect for raising our 3 kids, with its polished hardwood floors and all the space we needed. Its truly been a hidden gem for us. Now, were ready to downsize and move closer to family, but were excited for whomever gets to call this beautiful spot home next.
Why I bought this house
Any house I live in must be elevated and have a view of the water whether it be river or sea. No 1 rule! As soon as I saw our hardwood house I wanted it. It lives and breathes and is part of the landscape. There are so many beautiful birds out here which you can see and hear every day. I never wanted a house on a concrete slab in the middle of a big empty acreage. Ilarwill is an amazing little village with no through traffic. The forested crown land at the back of our place was a wonderful place to explore with its caves and bushwalking trails and my young son, his friends and our Labrador dog spent many hours exploring that incredible space.
