Set on an acre of parklike grounds and steeped in rich local history, this significant one acre plus Victorian-style estate has become available for the first time in 25 years.
Harben Vale is located just minutes from the heart of Camden and a 75km commute from Sydney s CBD. Set in an exclusive community of other high quality residences, this home exudes charm and class throughout.
The main residence

Classic post and railing fencing encircles the perimeter of the property, while original sandstone walls welcome visitors at the entrance of the main residence through secure electronic gates. Inside, the home echoes beautiful details from yesteryear delicate cornices, French doors, 3.4M high ceilings, ornate chandeliers, original hardwood floors, archways, decorative fireplaces and wide verandahs with French doors that open up allowing in the heady scent of mature planted Gardenia.
Unlike many of today s modern open plan houses, this residence offers a variety of rooms for you to call home. There s a dedicated office space with permanent built-in desks and shelving complete with high patterned ceilings. The main informal dining and entrance to the home is light-filled and oozes so much character. Adjacent is a large informal lounge which has access out to a spectacular south-facing rear enclosed verandah with so much room to study, relax and enjoy the views. You ll love the details on offer including original floorboards, windows and lovely vintage-style skeleton key and locks on the rear doors.
While modern with its appliances, the style of the kitchen at Harben Vale has been designed to complement the rest of the home. It features a painted timber ceiling, soft-close drawers and cupboards, extra-large refrigerator space plus an Ilve gas oven and cooktop.
The formal living room is a delight with a large bay window seat overlooking the front manicured gardens, delicate chandelier, striking hardwood floors and welcoming open style gas fireplace. French doors off this room open out to the expansive original and now tastefully enclosed verandah, making for a perfect winter room .
There are two more bedrooms in the main residence which are master in size and quite breathtaking. The first features hardwood floors, ornate gas fireplace and French doors leading out to a private sunroom and beyond a large ensuite. The second master suite is larger still and has an ornate gas fireplace, hardwood floors and a lovely arch window seat. The adjacent ensuite has a luxurious dual vanity, frameless shower screen and free standing bathtub with serene garden views. Another room next to this master is used as a large walk-in robe which could easily be transformed into a study, which would allow you to change the current study back into the third bedroom. The floorplan will assist with visualising this.
Outdoors there s a lovely private pavilion for large family gatherings, with more than enough space for an inground pool (STCA). At the rear of the property, a four bay garage offers a home for caravans/boats, two of the garages have mezzanine floors and one is currently used as a dedicated gymnasium.
Mature Viburnum hedging at the rear of the property offers total privacy and there are several mature trees including a stunning White Magnolia and magnificent Eucalyptus trees, Linden Tree and Peppercorn tree offering a home for birdlife and a quiet place to sit and enjoy the surrounds. Triple garaging with two remote doors plus extensive internal storage connects the main house.
The Cottage
Ideal for extended family, visitors or a possible B&B (STCA), the adjoining quaint cottage features two bedrooms plus study with dual access out to a timber deck which has lovely rear views of the property. Both bedrooms have large built-ins, carpets and blinds. A tidy bathroom and modern kitchenette/dining plus two split-cycle air conditioning completes this part of the estate.

Harben Vale - a history
The original land on which Harben Vale sits once belonged to John Macarthur and remained in the ownership of the Macarthur family as Farm 43 of the Cawdor Estate, Camden for many years. It was sold as a parcel of 140 acres and two roods with Farm 63, by Elizabeth Macarthur Onslow to William Stimson for 1284 pounds 19 shillings and eleven pence on October 11, 1893. According to records, the house had been erected by the time it was sold to William Stimson. On 8 June, 1895, Stimson sold the land and residence to Elizabeth Willis for a sum of 1300 pounds. Throughout the 1900 s the house and land changed hands a number of times as a farm, and in 1951 owners Edward and Gwyneth Grace named the property Harben Vale . After changing hands twice more, the Salter family purchased the property in February 1992.
