Harben Vale - a history
The original land on which Harben Vale sits once belonged to John Macarthur and remained in the ownership of the Macarthur family as Farm 43 of the Cawdor Estate, Camden for many years. It was sold as a parcel of 140 acres and two roods with Farm 63, by Elizabeth Macarthur Onslow to William Stimson for 1284 pounds 19 shillings and eleven pence on October 11, 1893. According to records, the house had been erected by the time it was sold to William Stimson. On 8 June, 1895, Stimson sold the land and residence to Elizabeth Willis for a sum of 1300 pounds. Throughout the 1900 s the house and land changed hands a number of times as a farm, and in 1951 owners Edward and Gwyneth Grace named the property Harben Vale . After changing hands twice more, the Salter family purchased the property in February 1992.
