Last Listing description (October 2016)

Why Are We Selling? - After living in our lovely home for thirty-five years, and our children having moved on it is now time for us to do the same and follow the next phase of our lives. We came to this home in 1981 after moving back to Sydney after serving our commitment to country vocational teaching positions to take up positions in Sydney. We needed a home into which we could move, live and function without having to do anything to it and from which we could access any part of the city and its environs.
This home ticked all the boxes, especially the first one, position, position, position.
It was and is:

Within walking distance to transport with the Gordon railway station allowing direct access to the CBD with commuter trains starting at this station so that one can get a seat in the morning and all trains travelling north stop at Gordon in the evening. There is also a bus interchange located at the railway station with bus services in all cardinal directions linking Gordon with places such as Macquarie University, St. Ives Shopping Village, the beaches to the east and Olympic Park to the west.
Within walking distance to a main shopping centre in which Woolworths, Harvey Norman and Bunnings are represented as well as many speciality shops.
Close to good schools both public and private.
Close to the Pymble interchange which allows easy road access to all parts of the city and the M2/M7 Motorway.
Close to the Gordon public golf course.
The location was and is relatively quiet and has a rural atmosphere with lots of lovely trees and greenery. Birds such as many of the parrots, rabbits, water dragons and we have a resident ring tail possum and bandicoot in the back garden.
The home has been good to us and the things we have loved about it include:
It is all on one level with easy access through the garage by means of the automatic door that allows us to get into the home without getting wet when raining or to unload the shopping.
The garage is big enough for two cars with some storage and there is a space in the front garden for a third car.
The bedrooms are located at one end of the home and the family and entertaining spaces at the other end allowing us to interact as a family or entertain as well allowing private spaces at times when it is desired.
The easy flow of the home both for living and entertaining, with the bedrooms at one end and the kitchen/family room at the other and the laundry in the middle a load of washing can be on its way while preparing breakfast. Similarly, with the access to the back terrace and barbeque from the kitchen preparing meals while entertaining means everybody can be included.
A further entertainment area is the pool which is located discreetly at one end of the back garden and surrounded by hedges giving a more private facility.
Other advantages include:
Plenty of cupboard space with one bedroom having a bulk storage cupboard big enough to store such things as travel bags. There is also fold away stair access to the roof space for further storage.
Reverse cycle ducted air conditioning.
Gas fire heating in the family room
En suite to the main bedroom
Insect screened and grilled perimeter doors which allow the home to be open yet secure in the summer months.
And the recent addition of electricity solar panels which feed excess power back into the grid.
Lastly and possibly the most important of all nice neighbours
Finally, we will be saddened to leave our beloved home but we will do so with many happy, warm and cherished memories of family Christmas gatherings, children s birthday parties, class mother s morning teas and luncheons and the parties to mark significant birthdays and events.
It has been and remains a light, bright and airy home with a feeling of peace and contentment.
