The house was built in 1954 and was designed by Peter Miller, a civil engineer who had worked with architect Harry Siedler, whose influence can be seen in the fully glazed north facing wall, allowing large amounts of natural light in the winter, with a large eve to shade the interior from the summer sun.
Other features new for the time were the attention paid to ventilation and the use of a slab instead of piers and timber floor. The house also has a skillion roof.
The property was a working orchard from the time the house was built up until around the year 2000.
