Camelia Cottage
Camellia Cottage is a lovely spacious weatherboard situated in a quiet street facing Berry Showground. The house was built in 1934 and has been beautifully refurbished by the current owners.
Much as we adore this house and we've had 10 happy years here, it is time to downsize, say the owners.

The house retains many original features including timber floors, high ceilings with pretty mouldings, Art Deco style architraves, fireplaces and a bay window with a window seat. There are three large bedrooms plus a smaller fourth bedroom, a dressing room fitted with built-in wardrobes and an enclosed side verandah with separate entry from the front verandah. This is currently used as a home office that could be made a fifth bedroom which leads on to a studio. There are two bathrooms and a spacious open plan living and dining area with a country-style gourmet kitchen. Two sets of French doors lead from the living area to a covered deck facing the back garden.
We replaced all the windows and doors throughout the house and took it back to the original as closely as possible, say the current owners, who also refurbished both bathrooms and added a new kitchen. We just love the white timber kitchen and the fact that every room has a lovely outlook of trees. We love the feel of the house, it's very warm and inviting with lots of windows and lots of space. At the front of the house fragrant roses, lavender and gardenias offer a lovely welcome, while at the rear a tall murraya hedge offers privacy. There are shade trees, a 'cat palace' which could also serve as a chook shed and a thriving vegetable garden. There is also a weatherboard garage and workshop with three-phase power. The driveway is lined with a variety of camellia trees that flower from March to November.
We're just minutes away from everything here, say the owners. If we have an appointment at the hairdresser or the doctor we only have to leave the house five minutes beforehand. It's such a friendly community that you can walk into town to get the milk and come back an hour later because of all the people you chat to. There's a chemist, doctors, great cafes - everything you could possibly need is right here. We also love to travel and when we go away we just have to walk up to Queen Street, hop on the bus and it takes us straight to the airport. It's all so easy.
We walk a lot, go to the Berry markets and the produce markets in Kiama, and the beach is only a five-minute drive away. We have lots of visitors and have had wonderful dinner parties around the big dining table that seats 10.
The house is so versatile and wonderful for entertaining. We hope someone else will be as happy in Camellia Cottage as we have been. Property Code: 59
