Lake Eucumbene is the largest water storage in the nighty Snowy Mountsins Hydro Electric Scheme, and during the construction of Eucumbene Dam, the original township of Adaminaby was relocated, during 1956/57, to make way for the waters of Lake Eucumbene, which when at it's highest level, would flood 95% of the township of Adaminaby. Actually the township was relocated from one side of the Great Dividing Range, to the other, from the Eucumbene River shed, to the Murrumbidgee River water shed.   No doubt a very rare undertasking in Australia !
